Walking around the historical part of St. Petersburg, one cannot help but notice a mysterious tower rising over Obvodny Canal. It is a former 19th-century gasholder that in November 2017 was converted into the world's largest Planetarium 1. Modern technologies transfer you to the center of the universe and reveal the secrets of its creation. - the world’s biggest dome of 37 meters in diameter - full-dome projection - surround sound and projection space 4000 m2 Today Planetarium 1 offers its visitors a scientific and educational program, which was created in cooperation with the world's best design studios. It consists of: - The Origin of Earth and Space Exploration - A Fascinating Journey through the Solar System - The Phantom of the Universe: in Search of Dark Matter

Underwhelming
Feb 2020
The planetarium gives you false impression of a hi-tech modern place both educational and entertaining. Unfortunately, the quality of sound and picture is not that great and some of the projectors glitched out during the show. The show is not particularly interesting, educational and out of date even.

Incredible experience
Jan 2020 • Family
The day we visited was miserable & rainy so it was the best day to explore the No1 Planetarium. It has the biggest dome in the world as well as amazing memorabilia of past astronauts & Felix Baumgartner gear etc. As you enter you are transported to another universe. You lie on huge bean bags and become completely enveloped by the images shown. It feels very trippy & like you are flying. Just make sure you find the English times but hearing the Russian doesn’t take the experience away. We arranged a taxi to get there & took the subway back to the hotel. Very easy & such fun.

Nice to do with children on winter
Dec 2019
Excellent choise when you have already bored your child with historical museums and need something else to do. They say it's the biggest of the world planetarium and it is big. Cosy place as it gives floor cushions to lie down and look the stars above. They also provide English dubbing in headphones. The movies were done with class.

Nothing to be impressed
Nov 2018 • Couples
Not worth spending your money on. There is terrible echo which makes it impossible to listen to the movie. The movie itself is very average in terms of information &education. The fatboys chairs are dirty and a cold concrete floor makes it uncomfortable to spend more than 20 minutes laying down on it. Would be nice to have audioguides in different languages as well as at least cinema chairs.

Great option for rainy day
Jun 2018 • Couples
If you are tired of standard museums, traveling with kids or wanna impress someone, visit Planetarium №1. For 1 ticket you get 3 films on very big dome sphere ceiling with 3d effects, that are showed from ~20 cinema projectors. You lie (really) on bag chairs and relax. You will know how and why Large Hadron Collider works & how our solar system is organized & many other interesting info.
